I’m blessed to have grown up in the Northern Rivers (aka Paradise Found!) and I have lived in various towns from Kyogle to the coast, both on the land and in town. I now call Goonellabah home with a view north to the mountains.

Having grown up in the area I have a deep understanding of rural life and the importance of protecting our natural environment. I love the unique energy of the granite belt country around Tenterfield, the rural landscapes around Kyogle, the Border Ranges National Park, the green hills around Lismore and the ancient rainforest in what’s left of The Big Scrub.

However, I have also experienced natural disasters impacting these beautiful environments – floods, bushfires, droughts – and the devastating effects of these disasters on local communities.

At the same time I’ve witnessed how these disasters have brought out the strength and camaraderie in regional communities. I love the sense of community that exists in the Northern Rivers.

My career has been diverse but my connection with people remains the same throughout. I’m a mother of 2 living with and defying the diagnosis of a rare and incurable form of blood cancer so I also understand personal resilience and how this is only possible through building a community and maintaining regional services.

That’s why I am inspired to start working with the team at corporate2community as a Stakeholder Engagement Consultant. I’m confident that the Northern NSW Bushfire Community Recovery and Resilience Fund project will enable my local communities to become even stronger and retain their identities in innovative new ways.

What am I most looking forward to? I’m keen to bring fresh eyes to old problems, to take a ‘why not’ attitude to the project and to create genuine change to a region at a grassroots level while working towards a big picture vision.

If you are a business owner in the Local Government Areas of Armidale, Clarence Valley, Kyogle, Lismore, Richmond Valley and Tenterfield, I look forward to getting to know you, your business and your communities!
